Wow! Just discovered the text print out and and coupled with your awesome narration it really elvates it. Here in the US, the attack on Kunac has eeire undertones of LA right now. Great stuff.
Thanks for reading/listening! I did want the Kunac attack to be reminiscent of real world conflict zones, and seem familiar (in a bad way). Tragic that there’s even a similarity with LA at the moment - really wishing the best for everyone there.
Simon, this is my first read of your fiction. As a newbie to Substack, I started reading your advice about publishing serial novels. Seeing an example helped me understand your POV. Jumping into the middle of a story was a bit like winter swimming, shocking but invigorating. As I plan out the infrastructure for my serial books series, I’ll need to credit you because I’m about to steal some of your ideas.
I’ve done quite a lot to try to make that abrupt encounter a little easier, with the quick navigation links to the story index. The idea is that if someone is sufficiently intrigued, it’s not too difficult to then find out more or start reading from the beginning.
And yes, absolutely steal away. Figuring out the best ways to do this sort of thing is what it’s all about.
Ah, just noticed Rodimus sitting all punked out in the BG of that panel. Rodimus was never anyone's favorite. Didn't help the movie really bungled his "intro" as Hot Rod ascended. That underwhelming first impression just colors all future use of Rodimus Prime.
A helicopter and tank strike in Palinor was NOT on my Triverse bingo card. I wouldn't have thought Mid-Earth would send over higher-tech to a world with the advantages of magic.
I still think your magic system allows for the creation of a "magic battery" allowing for spell-casting on Mid-Earth. Yes, just a battery would have a limited span (much like a Max-Earth power cell discharges quickly on Mid-Earth), but possible.
Obviously the problems are 1) someone has to have the idea, 2) figure out how to construct the ritual and holding vessel, 3) be able to cross to and from Mid-Earth to test the damn thing.
That is one hell of a Transformers panel. Galvatron looks at his most insane.
Had a couple of busy days here, dealing with engineer's reports, repair/construction estimates, and moving forward on paperwork for the house we're sale agreed on, but I'll set aside the time later today for "Dust to Dust," which is a major B5 episode I'm looking forward to re-watching.

I love the analogy of winter swimming!
