You did kill the kid!

"'They are all the same creature, detective. The kengto is a metaphorph.”' Should that be "metamorph?"

I thought maybe you'd try a fake out here... Try to set it up as a creature from Palinor, while really a genetically engineered nasty from Max-Earth. It could be. Or a creature from Palinor genetically modified on Max-Earth. Yeah, I'm mulling over the *thing* Zoltan rode through the portal with.

I don't remember if it's been touched on before now, but I'm almost afraid to ask what happened to us across the pond in this reality. In Doctor Who we got eaten by living blobs of fat if memory serves.

In short: by observing Max-Earth's already-happened history, European countries on Mid-Earth were able to predict certain key events in the late 18th century and prevent the American War of Independence from happening. Primarily by assassinating key figures.

That mis-use of portal knowledge led to many changes, with Max-Earth clamping down on 'portal tourism' and heavily restricting flow of knowledge. After a while it became less of an issue, as the dimensions diverged and played out very differently. But in those first few decades after the portal opened it was pretty crazy.

Not least because in those early days, someone from Max-Earth could visit Mid-Earth and meet key historical figures, or their ancestors. There was actually some consternation at first that the portal was providing actual time travel, and that interactions on Mid-Earth could cause ripple effects on Max-Earth. It soon became apparent that they were entirely separate dimensions, though, and did not affect each other's timelines in that way.

I need to write some bonus stories about this period....

Ahhh. Yeah, that would do it. I imagine that *would've* been crazy. And meanwhile there's Kaenamor's severed arm flying around wildly through it all...
