This video was recorded live 26/04/2025
A few weeks back I saw this on Blueksy, from writer Kieron Gillen:
As someone who loves nothing more than to dive behind-the-scenes, this was a really exciting glimpse into one of my favourite writer’s method. And I then thought it might be fun to open up my Scrivener project, warts and all, and poke at it in front of everyone.
Scrivener remains an intimidating prospect for many writers. I wouldn’t be able to write Tales from the Triverse without it, and have used it for all of my serial projects going back a decade. This video is my latest attempt to pull back the curtain and demonstrate how it’s been useful for me.
I was thinking this might be fun if it became A Thing. Fancy showing your project file?
Also, I need to invest in a higher quality webcam.
Meanwhile.
If you’re reading this on release on Monday 28th April, do pop along at 2pm today for a live chat between myself and
. We’ll be nattering about writing about serial fiction and whatever else comes to mind — as I mention in the video above, Eleanor has a very different approach to serials. Some other bits:
The latest chapter of Triverse seems to have gone down well with readers. Thanks for the lovely comments. Can’t quite believe we’re not into the final season!
If you’re into 90s classic sci-fi television, the big Babylon 5 rewatch continues. You can check out all the episodes so far here. We’re currently nearing the end of season 3.
I finished watching the latest season of Reacher. It confidently answers the question “What if there was a really big man?”
First episode of Andor season 2 was a bit all over the place, but the sheer level of production quality is nuts. I know it’s Star Wars, and has a Disney+ budget, but that entire opening sequence — just the opening shot, in fact — is remarkable filmmaking.
I finished Citizen Sleeper 2 by
and will be writing about it soon over on . Spoiler: it’s very good.I’m seeing some daft articles from rando weirdoes with not-so-hidden agendas writing on Substack about how the UK and Europe are authoritarian spaces where we’re all terrified of speaking or writing because you’ll get arrested. To my lovely American readers: if you happen to stumble upon one of those articles, just remember that it’s utter bollocks.
Talking of weird stuff, make sure you don’t fall for AI slop.
