The 2022 Online Fiction Writers Survey
Do you write and publish fiction online? Tell me all about it!
Something a little different today. I’ve been writing fiction online since about 2015. There’s always been a big community of writers in the online space but it seems more vibrant today than ever. I’d really like to get to know more about how other people write and get a deeper understanding of the scene.
As such, today’s newsletter is brief but important. I’ve put together a short survey (should take less than five minutes to fill out) which is designed to give all of us better insight into what and how we’re doing this.
If you write and publish fiction online, I’d love to have your voice in the results. My plan is to leave this survey open for a couple of months, after which I’ll do some analysis and compile a report. That report will be shared publicly with the community, my hope being that it’ll be a fascinating glimpse into 2022 online writing culture. We may even learn a thing or two from each other.
The report will be anonymised, and you can complete the survey without including any personal details if you prefer. There are also opportunities to put in links to your work, if you’d like me to check it out. The data in the final report will of course be anonymised.
This is going to work best if we get lots of people to take part. So please do share this post with your network and fellow writers, across your socials and newsletters.
I can’t wait to see what we get out of this. So here’s the link again:
Thanks in advance. Please do share this newsletter and/or the survey link, as the more respones it gets the more useful the report will be.

I took the survey, but I found the age range question weird. Why divide adults into different age ranges? I've never seen that done for fiction. An adult reader is an adult reader as far as I am concerned. I write for anyone over 12.
I realized only half-way in that it's really more aimed at serial writers. You might want to specify this somewhere.
Also, in the question about "memberships," you might want to add SFWA as an option.
Curious to see the results ;)
